Background

Australia’s Right to Food Coalition is a broad-based advocacy organisation working to ensure that the human right to adequate food is recognized and acted upon in Australia. The organisation comprises policy makers, academics, community development and health professionals, dieticians, health promotion officers, social and welfare workers, researchers, social entrepreneurs, local government workers and people working in planning and education, as well as community members from all corners of Australia. Most RTFC members work or volunteer in community agencies, the charitable food sector, academia and the public sector.

Position Title: RtFC Research Volunteer – Membership Analysis

Volunteer skills & attributes:

  • Demographic data analysis
  • Written communication – ability to translate data into a palatable document for the target audience

This project involves reviewing the existing RTF membership data to create a membership profile. We want to know where our members work, who they work/volunteer for, what they hope to achieve by joining the RTFC, etc.

To achieve this, the key project activities include:

  • Review data from the registration survey completed by all new RTFC members
  • Analyse existing RTF membership data to identify trends and patterns
  • Interpret the relevant statistics to create the two documents detailed below

Project deliverables:

  • A publicly available summary document of no more than six pages (including suitable info-graphics) to translate this data into a meaningful membership profile to share with potential funders and key stakeholders via our website. This may be broken down into individual VS organisational memberships, geographical locations and/or workforce sectors.
  • An internally available excel document with a volunteer database for the National committee to use when volunteer opportunities arise (this information is available from the existing survey data)
